Here’s the full list of winners of Oscars 2020.
The cinematic celebration is over, the celebrity-level hangover is on its way, and the winners can now polish their golden awards.
The Academy has stunned by its choice for the Best Picture. Contrary to almost all the other awards this season, it wasn’t Sam Mendes’ highly-rated 1917 (2019), but Bong Joon Ho’s acclaimed drama Parasite (2019). Hooray for the independent cinema!
At the same time, biggest losers of the night was Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman (2019) (top 5 in my top of the year list), which failed to win a single award from a pool of 10 nominations, and Sam Mendes’ 1917 (2019), which scored only in the visual categories.
Other than that, Joaquin Phoenix brought home an award for his role in Joker (2019), Bong Joon Ho won big time as Best Director, and Renee Zellweger embraced an Oscar for her leading performance in Judy (2019), where she played Judy Garland. The writing was appreciated the most in Jojo Rabbit (2019) and again – Parasite (2019), while supporting roles of Brad Pitt and Laura Dern brought each one an award.
As expected, Parasite (2019) also won among the international movies, thus making history as the first film ever to win both Best Picture and International Picture award.
After The Lighthouse (2019) swept a few awards earlier this weekend during Independent Spirit Awards, the film failed to compete with Roger Deakins’ work on 1917 (2019).
Take a look at all the categories and their respective winners.
